Blueberry picking!

Blueberries are synonymous with Maine, and August is peak season! We love going to our local spot every summer to pick our own highbush berries at Steep Hill Farm in Fayette! This long time (since 1984!) family run farm may seem off the beaten path, but to many it’s a local gem (and worth the trip). Many people come for the experience, and many have made it their family tradition! George and Brenda Joseph have made it a point to get to know their pickers, as they often see the same families every summer. George will personally walk you out to pick, explaining the different variety of berries as you go. It is truly the quintessential local Maine activity to enjoy alone, or with the family!

  • SKORDO - It's Five O'Clock Somewhere spice kit

Whether you are going to or hosting a BBQ, Skordo’s “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” spice kit is what you need to easily “up your game” with your summer cocktails (or mocktails!). These spice kits bring your drinks to the next level.

eighteen twenty Wines makes wine with locally sourced Maine Rhubarb! The Strawberry blend is a perfect “porch sipper, spritzer maker and cocktail sprucer-upper.” Sourcing their strawberries from local Maine farms, we just love this idea and can’t wait to try a spritzer at our next BBQ!

  • KRAKEN Oyster Grip Shuck Tool

Who doesn’t love Oysters!?! Eating oysters is a true Maine experience but trying to open them is not. This Oyster grip tool is the perfect gift for the oyster-eating person in your life. It holds the oyster firmly to allow for a much easier time opening so you can enjoy it right away! Less hassle to taste one of Maine’s delicious ocean-supplied treats!

  • Stars & Stripes Brews

What screams summer in America more than supporting our local troops?

Veteran Brad Nadeau and his wife Nancy have built a growing brew empire based on supporting local military charities. They’re on a mission, having fun, and growing, having just opened their second location right in the Old Port. As their motto says, “Enjoy your beer, that’s an order!”

4 packs are available for $14-16 from either of their stores in Freeport or Portland!

    Enjoy!

  • Erin Flett Leaves Appetizer Tray

Erin Flett’s tableware from her Beverly Melamine collection adds a fun design element to any tablescape! What I like most about the appetizer tray is, it’s the perfect size for all your appetizers and multiple entrée courses! The long but slim design of the tray allows room for multiple trays to all fit on one table.

    Cheers!

  • Gert & Co. prints

Though the swizzle sticks are a must to class up your drinks, there is SO much more to offer! You can find her classic Maine lobster wallpaper in many local businesses and homes, but did you know she is on Spoonflower? This means you can now get her famous patterns on pillows, duvets, napkins, and more! Our favorite is the Lobsters in the Surf pattern. Pick Your Own Flowers

What better way to make your summer table festive with local, fresh-picked flowers?! Pick up a last-minute bouquet at The Borrowed Flower Farm’s adorable farm stand in West Bath or head to Lazy Acres Farm in Farmingdale!

If you’re a guest attending a party, personalize your “gift” by sharing/passing along a vase you have received from someone or get creative with a decorated mason jar!

I love this idea as a pass-it-along with old family vases, or from vases received from other occasions – reused but repurposed with a more personal touch. You could also add special ribbon, glass beads, mod podge, or hot glue-gun decorations to a basic dollar store vase!

Enjoy friends!
